Cuvaison is a substantial property with holdings of some 100ha in the relatively
cool Carneros region to the south of Napa, which was the first region in California
to be regarded as ‘serious’ for Pinot and wines such as this go a long way to
proving the point. This is an exemplary Pinot Noir, not particularly in the Burgundian
mould; this is all about seductive, ripe raspberry fruit, an intriguingly smoky
aroma and fine, silky texture.
