Laurent Fayolle and his sister have recently taken over this 6½ha Domaine from
their father. Laurent studied oenology at Montpellier, getting his first harvest
under his belt in 2000. They are based at Gervans, which is the Crozes village
closest to Hermitage itself, sharing the same granitic soil. ‘Les Pontaix’ is
made from 35 year old vines and shows a wonderfully ripe and rounded plummy Syrah
fruit with plenty of juicy acidity.
