La
Masquerade Vin de Pays d'Oc Vermentino 2006
Although Vermentino is best-known (albeit
in a very limited manner) for producing zesty, fragrant
whites on Corsica, Sardinia et al it is actually
also grown throughout southern France, in Provence
in particular although here it usually goes under
the synonym of Rolle. La Masquerade also produce
a decent Sauvignon, but this is far more interesting,
with its pithy, grassy aroma and lively, crisp,
peach and apple blossom character on the palate
backed by underlying mineral characteristics.
