Ch. du Galoupet Côtes
de Provence ‘Cru Classé’ 2004
This is an intriguing and delightfully elegant wine with a surprising vibrancy
that is made predominantly (70%) from Rolle (aka Vermentino) with the balance
to Sémillon. Galoupet is one of only 23 vineyards in Provence to have been
granted Cru Classé status in 1955, not surprising as it encompasses some
of the very best terroir in the region. Yields here are low in the mid 30’s/ha,
the vineyard is just a mile from the Mediterranean.
