Quinta da Murta Bucelas
Branco 2006
Portugal is almost unique in that it has chosen not to embrace Chardonnay, Cabernet
et al and has stuck with the ‘hand that nature dealt it’. A good thing too or
we might never have discovered the virtues of the Arinto grape which thrives on
the chalky soils of Bucelas to the north of Lisbon. This wine spends 6 months
on the lees to concentrate the flavours and add complexity. This is a dry, fairly
aromatic white with hints of lime and mango that is easily our best-selling Portuguese
white, indeed it is one of our most popular whites from anywhere!
