Penedès Sauvignon Blanc 2005/6
This extremely classy wine includes some 10% of Parellada, a native Catalan grape
that lends an additional weight and more rounded texture to this richly flavoured,
surprisingly full-bodied wine, without detracting from the classic Sauvignon characteristics.
It is made from the fruit of a single vineyard or Pago consisting of mature vines
averaging some 35 years of age. 50% of the wine was fermented in new French oak
which imbues the wine with a richness and depth of flavour seldom found in Sauvignon
Blanc. For those of you with long memories, this used to be known as ‘Gran Viña
Sol Green Label’.
