‘Cuvée Beauregard’ Bourgueil 2004/5
The Cabernet Franc based wines of the Loire Valley certainly deserve
to become better known. There are similarities to Cabernet Sauvignon, but this
is significantly lighter and less tannic in style and would potentially drink
well served just slightly chilled. The aroma is quite green and ‘leafy’
with a restrained fruit and gentle tannin, and as this wine was only filtered
very lightly, there is a fair chance of some sediment.
