Barba ‘Colle Morino’ Trebbiano d’Abruzzo 2006
Too often, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo has been seen as an ‘also ran’ just making up the
numbers in terms of making up a pairing for the more commercial Montepulciano,
so we were pleasantly surprised by this. The nose is surprisingly rich and citrussy
and fatter than one might expect, in fact it is reminiscent of Sémillon with its
pithy, lemongrass aromas. The palate has a buttery character with just a hint
of sweetness and pleasing minerality.
