Mascarello Langhe Nebbiolo 2006
A ‘baby Barolo’ from one of the masters, Nebbiolo is the undisputed but temperamental
king of grapes in the northwest of Italy. The Langhe is the region that envelopes
the town of Alba and the DOC’s of both Barolo and Barbaresco. This is essentially
Barolo but from younger vines than Mauro would wish to include in his Baroli proper.
We currently list the ’99 vintage of his benchmark Monprivato which will probably
not start to open up for at least ten years, so if you would like a hint at what
could be in store without the wait (or expense), we suggest that you give this
a try!
