Colla ‘Dardi le Rose’ Bussia Barolo 2003
Of a quality that deserves a bigger reputation, this
is a delightful Barolo from a 7ha estate in Monforte
d’Alba that was founded in 1993 by brother and
sister team – Tino and Federica Colla whose
father Beppe is something of a local legend both for
his work at the Prunotto estate and as a ‘statesman’
for the entire Alba region whilst it was establishing
itself in the 1960’s. This is a lovely Barolo
from an exceptional vintage; contrary to popular opinion,
these wines are not usually full-bodied or powerful
and this is typically mystic, and subtle with a delightfully
complex fragrance.! |
