Araldica ‘Corsini’
Barbaresco 2004
Nebbiolo and although it is from just the other side of the town of Alba, Barbaresco
has always been overshadowed by Barolo, which means that it tends to cost less!
This is one of a number of wines under the ‘I Classici’ range from chief oenologist
Claudio Manera at the excellent Araldica operation. As with Barolo, there is something
of a trend towards ageing in barrique, ideally new, as opposed to the traditional
method of maturation in large ‘botte’ of Slovenian oak, which can (in the wrong
hands) produce an austere, dried out style of wine, whereas this is supple and
fruit forward.
