Sierra
Grande Casablanca Valley Chardonnay 2007
delightfully clean, crisp Chardonnay from the celebrated
cool-climate of Casablanca about an hour north-west
of Santiago. It has a lovely vibrancy from a good
level of acidity which links up well with the surprisingly
rich, melon and pear fruit character that has had
no oak contact whatsoever. The reason for the reasonable
(by Casablanca standards) price is that the fruit
is from younger vines, but in the hands of winemaker
Cesar Moralis this isn’t a problem.
