Reserva Limarí Valley Merlot 2005
The Limarí valley, some 400km north of Santiago is
pretty much a desert averaging just 32mm of rainfall
a year yet enjoys a relatively cool climate due to
its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its cooling
maritime breezes and fog (similar to parts of California).
This is an excellent varietal Merlot, ruby red of
medium depth that offers a lovely rich earthy, smoky,
gamey aroma with none of the usual aggressive ‘green
pepper’ characteristics. The palate is soft, supple,
well-rounded and full finishing with excellent length.
