Casa
Silva ‘Colección’ Colchagua Carmenère 2006
This is another well-established (1892) house, and one that is still family owned
and run with the 5th and 6th generations currently at the helm. They own some
830ha over 3 individual sites within Colchagua to the south of Santiago. There
is a view among certain sections of the wine trade that Carmenère is only suitable
for blending and doesn’t have enough about it to be released as a single varietal;
those people have clearly not tried this! Intense ruby color. Attractive aroma
perfectly displaying the typicity of this variety. Hints of plums, chocolate,
black pepper and toffee. On the palate, the harmonious balance between the fruit
and the oak is evident, pure sweet fruits with a long finish.
