Classically dry and ‘flinty’ this lovely wine offers plenty of mineral notes on
the back palate and is nicely ‘weighty’ in the mouth and shows considerable fruit
and a hint of honeyed complexity on the finish, all balanced by a steely acidity
that gives a decent ‘backbone’ to the wine. ‘Les Vaulignots’ is a particularly
impressive vineyard with a clean chalk soil over south facing slopes so steep
that they could almost be on the Mosel!
