Domaine Henri Rebourseau
Mazy-Chambertin 1999
Stunningly good, if somewhat youthful wine, this is labelled in the traditional
manner as ‘Mazy-Chambertin’ - very appropriately as this is ‘old school’ red Burgundy.
Pinot Noir is not a grape associated with a particularly deep colour, but this
is fairly immense with a vivid, youthful rim. It takes a little time in the glass
for this to open up and show its polished raspberry aroma with gamey notes. It
is a richly flavoured, concentrated and robust yet velvety textured wine with
excellent length. As a Grand Cru, Mazis / Mazy is regarded as second only to le
Chambertin itself.
