Jacky Janodet owns 7ha of vines with an average age in excess of 50 years in some
of the finest granitic soils in the region. He ferments in lined concrete vats,
and then maturation is in small 215 litre barrels prior to bottling some 6 months
later. This is a lush and attractive wine now, and unlike many lesser Beaujolais,
this will improve in bottle. The new Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopaedia describes this
as “the stuff of legends.”
