Most unusually for Bordeaux, this is almost pure Merlot (95%) which is grown on
particularly favourable soil. The wine shows a remarkable density of colour and
offers a vibrant, plum and liquorice fruit and substantial tannic grip. This is
well-built and complex Claret, and although the Blaye which is to the North of
the Bordeaux region is not held in the same esteem as the Médoc or the
'Right Bank' this is a lovely, profound wine.
