This is quite staggering, delivering Grand Cru Saint-Émilion quality if
not better, but from one of the satellite regions that are so often overlooked,
despite consistently producing great value for money. This is a classically Merlot
dominated wine with lovely weight, depth and surprising richness. There is a good
average vine age here which, coupled with the splendid qualities of the 2001 vintage
has resulted in a gorgeous wine, drinking beautifully now but with an obvious
ageing potential for a considerable number of years.
