Peter Lehmann ‘Stonewell’
Barossa Valley Shiraz 2000/1
A real icon, ‘Stonewell’ is consistently one of the
top Shiraz’ out of Australia, rubbing shoulders with
Penfold’s ‘Grange’ and Henschke’s ‘Hill of Grace’
but at about ¼ of the price! Grapes are sourced from
low yielding vines in the drier west of the Barossa,
with many vines in excess of 100 years old. This is
a dense, concentrated, brooding monster that will
repay careful cellaring for 15+ years. It was fermented
and then matured in predominantly French oak hogsheads
for 20 months. If you are still in any doubt that
Australia can compete at the highest level...
