Bruno Sorg Alsace Muscat 2004/5
A name that is well-known among the Alsace drinking cognoscenti and deserves recognition
with a wider audience. They make superb wines across the board here, but Muscat
is their forte and is of a quality to rival even the great Rolly Gasmann - the
‘Muscat Maestro!’ Bruno still runs the show but his son François is increasingly
involved. From their base in the village of Eguisheim, they grow classic, dry
Muscat with pronounced grapey aromas, a steely minerality underlying the deceptively
fat fruit (’03 vintage) with a surprisingly dry and slightly spicy finish.
